Hamsterley Forest's new blue Squirrel Chaser mountain bike trail is open
7 April 2025 | By billy1979Forestry England is delighted to announce the opening of a brand - new, blue (moderate) grade off-road cycle trail at Hamsterley Forest, County Durham.
Squirrel Chaser’, which opened on the 6th April 2025, offers riders a fantastic 8.4km adventure through the forest. The fully waymarked trail provides a moderate challenge to build skills and confidence, and to help you explore the other trails.
The project is part-funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
